Drs. Jesal A. Patel and Shawn A. Dornhecker both attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for their undergraduate studies in Microbiology. In 1994, both Drs. Patel and Dornhecker were fortunate enough to attend The Ohio State University's College of Dentistry. During that period they were engaged and eventually married in 1998 upon graduation. After receiving their Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, they were accepted into a general practice residency in dentistry at The Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. This residency provided the opportunity to treat the general population, underpriviledged children, immunocompromised patients, and acted as the hospital's ear, nose and throat residents. Upon completion of the residency Drs. Patel and Dornhecker were voted Otolaryngology and Dental residents of the year by the hospital attending doctors.
Both doctors have been active in attending and many continuing educational classes, ensuring that their patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care. They are members of The American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentisty and The Cincinnati Dental Society, and The Keely Dental Society.
Drs. Patel and Dornhecker have been in practice in the Cincinnati area since 1999 and currently reside in the Mason area. They enjoy spending time with their daughter Sia, 6 years old, and Aron, 4 years old. Dr. Dornhecker is an active athlete who participates in local volleyball leagues, mini Triathalons, extreme active races, and Stairclimbs for charity events. Dr. Patel is also active in many charity events and cultural programs.
Both Doctors participate in The Climb the Carew Tower stairclimb for The American Lung Association in February. This year, Dr. Dornhecker completed the 45 floor, 804 step climb in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. He had the 6th best time out of 400 climbers!
